Why are you single ...

Why are you single ...
Posted By: Joyce Brayboy on September 02, 2012

Why are you single, is the awkward question asked by family, friends and even the random person in the grocery story. Single people try to justify the choice. Reason why it's a good idea. But inside we're saying, "I'm not psycho, or weird, just single for crying out loud." What's wrong with being single.

People give you that look, like Hmmmm. Especially single women! You may not agree, but I'm just sayin'. Church ladies want to know, "Baby, you don't have a special friend YET?" Men don't get pressed like that. You could wind up feeling like being a single female is equal to being unemployable or being last to get picked for a game of kick ball. Something must be wrong with you.

On the other end of the spectrum are the well-meaning friends who set out to change your "situation," OR people who are the opposite sex and think that "I'm not married" means "Please help me change that."

Sometimes single people just aren't looking, we aren't in the market, we aren't OCD, or looking at your mate; we're just happy with our lives, activities and nothing has come along that is worth rearranging things.

So on behalf of single folks everywhere who are emotionally stable, normal, nice people, here are my top 10 reasons for being single. What are yours?

10.

I run. Guys that I would like don't hang out at the track.

9. Even though I don't pull out photos of my two kids on dates, their well-being and development is my top priority. Not the dating scene ...

8. If there's a red flag after a date or two, I remind myself relationships are a hellova lot easier to get into than they are to get out of!!!! Gotta go, bye ...

7. I'm not lonely. ... not a motivated seller I guess.

6. Spending more than a night every few weeks trying to meet someone is a sacrifice of time I could use for running, dancing, talking to my family or watching Piers Morgan.

5. While finding Mr. Right sounds appealing, the reality is relationships are WORK, work that I'm not 100 percent sure about putting in right now. Even though it sounds fun.

4. I just haven't met the right guy ... at the right time.

3. I like my life. What am I going to have to give up for this???

2. How many frogs did that lady have to kiss in the Disney movie in order to find Prince Charming? That's an awful lot.

1. I don't want it bad enough ... and by the time I do, it's very likely Mr. Right won't want a girl who's 82 and greying. :-)

And you??? If you are on Twitter, use the trending hash tag #imsinglebecause.
