McGraw-Hill Launches App to Help Military Families

But what about an app that can provide a real service to those who serve our country? Yep - there's an app for that. The McGraw-Hill Companies – known for providing education, information and financial analysis– has launched a new app designed to help military families – The Military & Money App. This app is the first financial education app that will provide easy-to-use and practical money management tips to military members and their spouses. These families will have access to training videos, articles and interactive tools to help them manage credit bards and credit scores, pay off debt, and maximize their savings. And with the Military&Money App available on iTunes for free, anyone – military or not — can take advantage of this resource. So, why is McGraw-Hill creating this app? It’s part of the Corporation’s commitment to the White House’s Joining Forces Initiative, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, to connect our servicemen and women and military spouses with the resources they need to find employment at home. According to the report of Strengthening Our Military Families: Meeting America’s Commitment, number two on military families’ list of biggest stressors is in fact personal financial management. This app will provide these families with tools that will address the current finance challenges they face – high-interest predatory loans, consumer fraud, and debt – just to name a few. It will also support the financial transitions they face such as deployment, retirement, and relocating. The app has been featured on the Department of Defense’s Family Matters Blog as a smart tool for military families. McGraw-Hill Education, along with several partners, developed the foundation of the app’s Basic Training videos. Other features of this app include calculators to track cash flow, debt reduction plans, and prompts that send monthly saving reminders.
