Posted By: How May I Help You NC on October 08, 2012 FULL-TIME, RENEWABLE NON-TENURE TRACK The Modern Languages Department is situated within the College of Arts and Sciences, which bears primary responsibility for providing an education that is grounded in the great tradition of liberal arts and sciences and committed to the integration of faith and learning. Whitworth’s Modern Languages Department strives to educate students in cultural differences and sensitivity. We seek to provide students with language skills, cross-cultural experiences, and literary and cultural understandings that allow them to navigate effectively within other cultures. Through this process, students are empowered to understand linguistic and cultural differences within their own society. Because we know our students well, we are able to guide them as they discern career opportunities and vocational calling. As a result of this range of learning experiences, our graduates are ready to become citizens of the world. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Teach 21 credits per year of all levels of Spanish to majors and non-majors, with the possibility to serve as a member of the university’s Core program and/or first year seminar; mentor and advise students; engage in research and scholarship. Participate in departmental activities and governance, professional activities, and faculty assemblies, development days, retreats, and committees.
