Posted By: How May I Help You NC on October 08, 2012 Department of Mathematics Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professorship in Mathematics Applications are invited for two tenure-track assistant/associate professorships in the Department of Mathematics starting August 2013. Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in applied mathematics or mathematics by August 2013. Candidates must have demonstrable excellence in both teaching and research. Responsibilities include: teaching up to 12 credits per semester, including service courses; advising majors; and serving on departmental and university-wide committees. Preference will be given to candidates who meet the above attributes and show that they can: • contribute to the Department’s offerings in applied mathematics; • contribute to program development in mathematics General Education courses, B.S. in Applied Mathematics or our B. A. in Mathematics; • contribute to the development of an M. S. in Applied Mathematics; • provide leadership in the development of undergraduate research initiatives; • attract external funding. Applications must include: a cover letter addressing the above, curriculum vita, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, a brief research prospectus, three letters of recommendation with at least one letter addressing in detail the candidate’s teaching effectiveness, undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Finalists must successfully complete an interview process including a teaching demonstration and a talk to the Department’s faculty and upper-level students.
