What Do You Think? Could You?

What Do You Think? Could You?
Posted By: Kedric McKennon on November 03, 2005

Could you get involved with someone you never met but spoken to on numerous occasions? If so how far or should I say deep would you allow it to go? Could you even trust that person? I find that as I frequent HBCU Chat it seems to be more like HBCU Hook-Up Line. There is more "drama" there than on the sopas. Some seem real but others seems made up but now I find myself questions if I should or even attempt to try and see who is that I'm talking to. What do you think?

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE PERSON THAT U ARE TALKING TO AND HOW SERIOUSLY THEY ARE TAKING IT AND HOW FAR THEY ARE WILLING TO LET IT GO. SOME PEOPLE YOU CAN'T TAKE SERIOUSLY BECAUSE THEY ARE THINKIN OH WE JUST TALKIN AS FRIENDS AND WE NEVER GO MEET EACH OTHER SO ITS OKAY. AND OTHERS ARE LIKE OK WE GO TALK THEN WE GO MEET AND THEN WHATEVER HAPPENS HAPPENS. SO IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE PEOPLE IN THE SITUATION.

I for the most part believe things could work out. Lifes too short to be lying bout this and that, whats the point? If you feel deep down in your guts this person is being for real then you go on about your business with them. If you know they lying then drop them. Its as simple as that. Do what feels good to you and how it makes you feel. Yes its true you have to be careful with the person you never know if they serial killers or transvestites. But you'll know when someone is lying if your smart. One good thing that comes out of internet relationships is the mystery and suspense. It somehow makes you want the other person even more oppose if you saw them on a daily person. Your picture of that person physically is a blur and it keeps you in suspense. So to answer your question Mr. Tampa i do believe in internet relationships. I've only tried once but its been turnin out okay. Even though i aint with the person He seems to be OK so far. He dont sound like no killer or woman posin as a dude. I wouldn't mind meeting him if the chance came up. Go with your gut instincts. Toodles BAbes

I think your doubt has to do with all the internet scruinty, being aired on television. Though, it has it's ups and downs, especially in HBCU Cafe. Some of the drama on there is uneccessary. A few members have taken the e-relationship to another level. However, I have meet people over the internet (friendship only), and we have remained friends over the years. But, as far as the internet dating does......to each has its own! But we must always be careful.

Well, I know what your currently going through cause I've been on those lil chat room thingys ever since I was in the eighth grade. And from time to time I do run into people that I would definately like to meet in real life. However I have to remember all the time, that if sometimes I put a front up while chatting online then wouldn't somebody else be doing the same?..
But other than that if I were you, I would only talk to people or become interested with people that live in your area only. And you find that person in the middle of a drama episode in the HBCU Chat rooms, then forget it. Drama ain't worth a dang thing and if that person is caught in, then she/he obviously cares about drama so yeah.
Other than that, I'm currently talking to somebody that I met online as well. But he goes to West Point so yeah. And he's from the same island I'm from just a different school. And I've never met him before. And the first dude I called or actually talked to that I met off the internet, I have actually been talking to that person for over a year.
It's pretty much time and patience and talking constantly. But if you really want to get with somebody that you meet, then make standards for that person. Like where they live and the type of personality that they should have. It helps so that you don't end up the fool.
But yeah that's what I think so yeah.
Good Luck.....
much island love...

I pretty much agree with most everybody else. If you feel that you're mature enough to handle that type of relationship (meaning distance and limited/no contact) then make the most of it. After all, aren't you liking the person for they're personality rather than how they look...but you also have to be careful because everyone isn't truthful

No, I personally wouldn't want to get involved with a person that I've never met because you wouldn't have anything but words to go off of. People can tell you anything and I'm not one who is quick to put my trust in people, so it would be rather hard for me to endure this type of relationship.

i dont really think internet relationships are the safest thing to get involved in. As once said before, people tend to lie about themselves just to impress the other person. I know because I've done it before! All in all, try not to become too involved with someone over the internet. Oh, and DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFO!!!

Well I think that u can fall in love with somebody if u met them on your way in the damn bathroom, but it's all "up to you!" Why? Well u have to follow your heart cause most of the time your heart will not lead you wrong. Fallin in love with somebody is not a joke. When your in love with somebody it's not just because of their looks u got to love them for who they are. U got to love things about a person like the way their voice make smiles u know what I'm saying. Well all I can say is love is not like water in the kitchen sink u can not turn it on and off went u want too. When u love somebody your heart knows and that's all that matters. Whatever makes u happy.
