Position Details Department: 058001 - School Of Nursing Position: 00013438 - Research Assistant - Nurse Ed Pract., Quality, and Retention Grade or Band: 00 Eligible for Overtime Pay Job Description The William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College is seeking a full-time (35 hours/week) research assistant to provide support services for a clinical research study examining health outcomes in surgical patients with diabetes mellitus receiving care through an inter-professional health care team, funded by the Health Resources and Services Agency of the Health and Human Services Department. Role responsibilities include recruitment and evaluation of study participants. This may include direct patient interaction in a hospital setting. Additional job requirements include performing clinical tests such as blood pressure measurement, vital signs, phlebotomy, and coordinate visits and specimen collection. The coordinator will also be responsible for collecting data and maintaining a patient information database for the study including data input; data analysis, write and edit study documents, and report analyses. The coordinator will also maintain patient records as part of record keeping. The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the study Principal Investigator. This is a grant-funded position. Requirements BA/BS degree in health sciences field (e.g., psychology, biology, nursing, human development) * Previous research experience preferred *excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Well-organized and detail-oriented; high-degree of flexibility to handle changing priorities * Flexible hours to meet study needs * Able to work independently and take initiative as a member of a team * Able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing * Proficient with email, internet, and Microsoft Office. *Experience working with data and some knowledge of statistical software, such as SPSS, is also valuable.
