Posted By: How May I Help You NC on November 26, 2012 Primary role: The Clinical Laboratory Application Analyst has the ability to understand complex clinical laboratory processes as well as the ability to identify and define laboratory information system requirements. This individual will be able to communicate these needs effectively within the Duke Health System and to external business entities as necessary in accordance with Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) policies and regulatory agencies. In addition to normal work effort, this position will be expected to provide evening, weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis. The team is looking for a person with strong communication, clinical analysis skills and a technology based background to help us meet the goals and objectives of the Duke Health System. Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Senior Manager Essential tasks/responsibilities: Coordinate efforts with internal IT departments and vendors to ensure that requirements are clearly understood and included in the solution provided. Contribute to all aspects of requirements definition and execution activities for the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Analysis, design, implementation, testing, evaluation and validation. Collaborate with direct manager and project manager to establish goals and timelines for projects. Routinely create and update workflow, application and training documentation. Provide end-user support and maintenance for all Laboratory Information System applications/ interfaces. Develop and implement test plans to ensure reliability and accuracies of applications in compliance with regulatory agencies. Evaluate, test and validate all changes to programs, tables and databases within the guide-lines of the current change management policies. Maintain application user security access in compliance with current security policies Prepare periodic security audits to account for personnel changes. Collaborate, coordinate and communicate software changes and upgrades with laboratory management. Oversee and monitor the yearly validation for Electronic Lab Manual, Medical Device Interfaces, and Hospital system interfaces with the lab managers and downstream systems. Serve as a liaison with the other IT departments to represent the operational initiatives for the laboratories. Participate in the development of a professional development plan with specific goals and metrics. Provides on-call coverage during after-hours during the week, weekend and holidays. Participate and provide internal and external training as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills: Personal Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) Strong customer service focus Meticulous attention to detail and organizational aptitude Strong leadership, team building, and conflict resolution skills Ability to work independently and within a structured team environment Excellent reasoning and sound decision making skills. Technical Previous Laboratory Information System Experience EPIC Beaker, Cerner PathNet, Haemonetic SafeTrace and/ or Meditech a plus Previous medical device lab system interface and support Data Innovations a plus Project Management ITIL Training and Certification ServiceNow Incident Management Disaster Recovery and Contingency Management Microsoft Windows Microsoft Office Duke University and Duke University Health System is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
