Hampton Va. – The Hampton University Players & Co. proudly presents “Black Nativity,” a combination of African American scripture, poetry, dance and song. The performance will take place on HU’s campus in the Little Theatre of Armstrong Hall, Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Dec. 2, at 3 p.m.

Written by Langston Hughes, “Black Nativity,” will be one of the most beloved events for you and your family to attend during this Christmas season. The play is a testament to the birth of Jesus Christ through the power of gospel music, telling the story of the Nativity.

Karen Turner Ward, chair of the HU Department of Fine and Performing Arts, will be directing the production.



The cast of “Black Nativity” features Jasmine Anthony, Chelsea Balentine, Torenzo Blair, Jazmine Butler, Shayla Dixon, Jessica Freeman, Rylan Harris, Linzy Henderson, Jalen Hunter, Jordan Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Jillian Jones, Ronyea Kerns, Allante Lynn, Courtney Milligan, ToyaMonger, Eric Perry, Duane Richards, Shelbea Roberson, Christian Stephens, Lamar Stovall, Daphane Warren and Rhyan Weller.

The Hampton Players & Co. is a professionally run performing ensemble. The performers are not limited to the University stage, but have appeared on stages throughout the United States.



General admission tickets are $12. Non-HU students and senior citizens are $10. Tickets are available at the HU Box Office. For more information call 727-5236 or 727-5402.
