This position coordinates and contributes to efforts
related to the Duke Digital
Initiatives, an ongoing set of programs to advance technology
innovation in support of
undergraduate learning and co-curricular student life at Duke. We seek
an individual who can develop
and work with fresh and radical ideas that link new and emerging
technologies with effective
academic practices to deliver major benefits to the Duke academic
mission and beyond.


This position will have specific responsibilities in helping to
coordinate activities within Duke's
IT Co-Lab, a new and emerging program to advance innovative
technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and co-curricular
student life. The incumbent
should possess strong technical skills along with the ability to work
in a fluid and fast-paced team
environment. He/she will learn new technologies quickly, be keenly
aware on the upcoming advances
in
the technology, and have the foresight to anticipate how the changes
will impact our environment -
and be able to help identify which new technologies we should support
and offer as a service. The
incumbent will also be tasked with identifying and building a community
of students around the
mission of the Co-Lab.


DUTIES & WORK PERFORMED:
Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the Duke IT Co-Lab
engagements with students,
faculty and staff. This individual will work directly with students,
faculty, and IT staff members
to research, plan, develop, and implementing various deliverables
(mobile apps, web
apps, simulations, videos, displays, etc.) directed toward enhancing
student learning experiences
and supporting co-curricular life at Duke.



Activities include
managing/contributing to all aspects
of the IT Co-Lab programs as required and engaging with, and
facilitating interactions between,
students, faculty members, executive and department level
administration, and senior and department
level technology professionals.


SOFT SKILLS:
This position requires excellent business, communication, influencing
and negotiating skills with
the ability to apply these skills appropriately across all levels.


QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and
experience in technical or
management field related to information technologies.


EDUCATION:
Preferred:
# Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Required:
# Must be self managed, ambitious, and a self-starter
# Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills
# Advanced presentations skills
# Ability to develop costing models
# HTML5, Javascript, Web Services (SOAP/REST), Objective C
# Knowledge of iOS and Android operating systems


Preferred:


# Participation in technology innovation contests and/or fairs
# Published works on
future of IT in
education
# Java, Open Social, OAUTH, NODE.JS, WebGL, Ruby on Rails, Python,
Django, php
# Adobe Creative Suite # Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
