|
Posted By: on November 07, 2005 Fatima Lowe, a 1992 graduate of Hampton University, has released her new CD - an inspiring, eclectic blend of neo-soul and spirit. As a former member of the urban contemporary gospel group, Spiritual Pieces, Fatima has enjoyed 3 Stellar Award nominations and the LA Music and ASCAP Plus Awards. She has shared the stage with such gospel notables as Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell, Vickie Winans, Tonex and Karen Clark-Sheard among others. She is also a former backup singer and session vocalist for Mary J. Blige and Grammy Award winning artists, Wyclef Jean and The Fugees. She can also be heard singing the jingle for the new Nissan Presage commercial. Recently, she became the first African-American ever to sing at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia. Also an actress, Fatima has appeared on television in one season of “Beverly Hills 90210” and on “Seinfeld”. She also co-starred in the movie “Divas” with Lisa Nicole Carson and Nicole Ari Parker, which garnered her an NAACP Image Award nomination for best actress. Currently, she is enjoying the success of the self produced CD single, "I Choose You", commissioned for use in the national new hit stage play “STEM” in which she co-stars and shares credit as writer. Also in the works is the publication of her first book, “Losing Religion...Finding God!” (due in 2006) which will loosely mirror the premise of the new CD. The new CD "Purge and Re-Member" is her inspirational solo debut released under her record label, Create Path Works. "Purging is about cleansing and renewal. Re-Membering is the process of putting the pieces back together again for the purpose of divine order. This CD is about healing and transformation," according to Fatima, a native of Newark, NJ now residing in Los Angeles, CA and a Fibromyalgia survivor. “When we re-member, we tap into the highest part of ourselves.” She says, "God is my source, my agent, my manager and my opportunity maker. All I have to do is be true to the artist voice within, remember to do my part as co-creator and let 'the Creator' do the rest!" “Purge and Re-Member” is spiritually based promoting the mind, body and spirit connection but is delivered in a contemporary, neo-soul rhythm and blues style.
