Commitment vs. Relationship

Commitment vs. Relationship
Posted By: Kimberly S. Smith on November 08, 2005

Someone PLEASE answer this for me...
What is the purpose of two people being in a relationship when there is ALWAYS one person willing to step out?
Notice the difference
Here's a question for my HBCU brothas...

Commitment-- are you commited to the relationship or are you commited with staying with that person?
Relationship-- are you in a relationship, but still commited to doing the things that kept you from being exclusive?
Hey.. what about marriage? Stop getting married if you're going to divorce within the first TWO years. (Someone should have fought harder for the marriage, instead of giving up)
And Ladies if you have been with him for 6 years or more and he still hasn't put the RING on your finger... move on because he never will.

I feel you! I have been dating this guy, who talks a good game......you know the type marriage, nice home, family, etc...... He has one flaw, he is afraid to commit. We have been dating for 2 years now and I want to be married and have at least one more child, but obviously it won't be with him because he is too afraid to commit(for whatever reason). Very soon, I will be looking past him and back on the market for a serious relationship.

Sistahs it goes both ways. I understand circumstances are personal to the person.
Committment and the peron are really the same thing or can be.
If you marry a person and are committed to them via the bond of the person instead of via the bond of God via marriage, disaster looms.
Men also have waited on the woman, were committed to the woman, committed to the relationship etc.
I have a question, why do 99.9% of women not trust their men around any other women, female friends etc.
Becuae the common sense rule of thumb that every little girl is taught that she will go after your man.
I bet you both know just as many of your girlfriends that are running much game or are indecisive etc. I am not against what the both of you are saying. I hope you feel that.
Relations are as complicated as people unevenly yoked make it. Also a myriad of questions and responses can arise from what is asked here.
Male/Female, Testosterone/Estrogen, Left brain hemisphere/Right brain hemisphere, women are usually 3-5-10 years more mature than a man of the same age, moods, age etc.etc.etc.
Only 1 source cuts through all the physical and worldly though and as long as that is not sought initially, throughout etc., qustions, disappointments and much more will always be there.
If God were in the mix in the 1st place there would be no 6 yr going togethers etc.
I wrote a blog about getting real with myself in my last relationship and I looked at me 1st, not saying no one here is not doing the same.
I alluded to the fact that when 1 gives the whole house the average person logically won't need the key.
No one put a gun to my head in what I was doing with her but she sure must have thought I bumped my head when I would talk about Bible, Marriage, Church etc. with her.
Lastly by the way, for evry woman, young lady etc. that has questions about men, men have the same questions of how they could be all that to the female but she always went back to the guy who beat her up, never had any money, used her, played around on her etc.
Take a poll of women and even the Church most dedicated women say they want the thug or bad boy but you complain about the results.
Choice, rspecting of selves 1st and formost etc.
Out of my mnay years of being single out there etc. Only 1 female did not come at me 1st. This is the person I allude to in my Profile.
All the rst through themelves on me to play 1st as most men experience.
But that is not as noticeable...
Great blog and keep up the good work Sis.
I commend you for being courageous enough to openly talk about the issues.
Much game is played on here also.
