Therefore, personal safety should be a priority. Parents and students should discuss a safety plan prior to the student leaving for college. Make self-defense and campus security important. Most experts would say pepper spray is the best self defense weapon for college students. Pepper spray allows the capability to halt an attack while at a comfortable distance.
