LeMoyne-Owen College Students to Pay Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Legacy With a Community Cleanup!

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on January 18, 2013 WHO: LeMoyne-Owen College Community Partnership (LOCCP), Memphis City Beautiful, Clean Memphis, and Volunteer Mid-South. WHAT: Fifth Annual Martin Luther King Service Day and Clean-up WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, 8:00 - 11:30 am. WHERE: Kicks off at the Alma C. Hanson Student Center on the LeMoyne- Owen campus, 807 Walker Ave., at 8:30 am. Cleanup at various areas surrounding campus immediately follows. BACKGROUND: Everyone is invited to join hundreds of participants from area agencies, city and county government, and law enforcement, along with employees from local companies, to spruce up areas surrounding the LOC campus. “We are grateful for our wonderful group of community servants who embody the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy of community activism,” LeMoyne professor Dr. Kimberly Lamar said. “Involving ourselves in this clean-up gives us a perspective on what the community needs and the support systems that we as a community may provide.
