WORLD FAMED TIGER MARCHING BAND ON CNN SUNDAY

Members of Grambling State University’s marching band will be featured on CNN on Sunday night as a part of the network’s pre-inauguration coverage.

Broadcasting from the National Mall in Washington, D.C., CNN will feature band members playing several songs during the one-hour program with anchors Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer. The show will air from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Central Standard Time (8 p.m.-9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time). The university’s band played during President Obama’s first inauguration parade in January 2009, and the band is the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) participating in the president’s inauguration parade Monday. Grambling State’s band is one of two marching bands returning for the president’s second inauguration parade; the other is the president’s Hawaii high school. The band is the only Louisiana marching band participating.

According to CNN, the network will anchor special coverage of the second inauguration of President Barack Obama Sunday, Jan. 20 through Monday, Jan.

CNN and Instagram have teamed up to offer a multimedia look at the crowds who will gather for the inaugural ceremonies. From Jan. 18 – 21, CNN is asking people attending inauguration events to take a photo of themselves ‘in the crowd’ and post to Instagram with the hashtag #CNN. The university is encouraging all Grambling State University alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and supporters to Tweet with the hashtag #GramFam during CNN’s Sunday night program and again when the band marches in the Monday parade, which starts at 2:30 p.m. (EST) in Washington, DC.
