The senior managing director, regional growth strategy & development plays a critical leadership role in ensuring that Teach For America's 46 regions nationwide catalyze their communities to end educational inequity. Working with a portfolio of 6-8 regions, the senior managing director, regional growth strategy & development, coaches, advises, and supports regional teams to strategically seize opportunities for growing Teach For America's corps and alumni force and to build an ever-growing, more deeply invested, and sustainable network of public and private sector champions. In collaboration with their colleagues, the senior managing directors, regional growth strategy & development, play a key role in developing and guiding the overarching organizational strategy enabling regions to maximize their impact. Teach For America's regions raise 75% of the organization's annual operating funding, totaling $185 million this year and growing to $222 million in 2012, and placing 5,800 new corps members in 2012.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional strategic thinker and relationship builder with strong client management and people instincts; is highly organized and thrives in fast-paced, goal-oriented environment; is an adept listener and problem solver, able to effectively identify and marshal resources towards areas of opportunity and challenges; and is a team-builder who operates and leads with Teach For America's core values..

The senior managing director, regional growth strategy & development will report directly to the vice president, regional growth strategy & development and will work closely with regional development teams, regional district strategy teams, executive directors, and the regional operations team.

Team Overview
The Growth, Development and Partnerships team helps Teach For America fulfill our potential as a force for change by marshaling resources, cultivating public and private sector champions, and strategically seizing opportunities for expansion and revenue growth both nationally and regionally. In addition, the team works to build partnerships with diverse communities to help build the movement to end educational inequity.

The Regional Growth Strategy & Development sub-team provides support, coaching and on-the-ground tactical resources necessary for regions to meet their growth and fundraising goals. The team works closely with teams in regions to help them set their regional goals, develop strategic and operational plans to reach their goals, and connects regional teams with national resources that can support their efforts.




Responsibilities
Advising regional district strategy and development teams as well as executive directors on setting goals and creating strategic and operating plans that allow regions to optimize their placement of corps members in the local community and maximize their sustainable revenue growth opportunities

Partnering with members of the growth, development and partnerships team and the regional operations team to ensure that regions meet their annual corps member and development goals and are positioned to grow their impact

Participating in the hiring, onboarding and ongoing coaching of regional staff, particularly regional heads of development and heads of district and school partnerships

Providing continuous input and insight on the profiles of our most successful heads of development and district and school partnerships to inform hiring and professional development

Fostering strong relationships between regional staff and their national partners that are aligned with Teach For America's core values and maximize the contributions of individuals in our network toward our collective efforts

Partnering with the regional operations team and other parts of the growth, development & partnerships team to analyze data and trends that generate strategic insights into strengths and opportunities to improve

Counseling regional staff on managing cultivation and stewardship of donors and district/charter partners

Identifying trends in regional needs and best practices that drive the regional growth strategy & development team's overall approach to training and support

Ensuring that regions have access to training, tools, best practices and other resources they need to meet their development and corps member placement goals
