Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 11, 2013 College Laboratory Technician - Media Culture The College of Staten Island – The City University of New York The Department of Media Culture at the College of Staten Island (CSI) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of College Laboratory Technician beginning Spring 2013. Specialization in Studio Television and/or Film and/or Video is required. The Department of Media Culture offers Bachelor degrees in Cinema and Communications and a Master's in Media Studies. Located in the College's Center for the Arts, the department has creative laboratory facilities in Film and Video Production, Television Studio Production, Audio and Radio Production, Graphic Design, and Web Design. Standard software used across the range of courses within the majors include the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro Studio, Pro Tools, and other course-specific applications. A High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience is required. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. General duties include: Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework; sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories; assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials; maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards; maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities; and manages equipment and materials inventories.
