Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 12, 2013 Lincoln University (MO) will once again serve as host of the 9th Annual Mr. HBCU Kings’ Leadership Conference and Competition from February 20-24, 2013. The competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Richardson Fine Arts Center, located on the Lincoln University Campus. The mission of the Leadership Conference is to enhance the leadership skills for university males by creating an infrastructure for leadership that enables them to develop as spokespersons, role models and leaders in their universities and communities. The participants will gain from expert speakers, forums and workshops. The conference will culminate in a competition on Saturday, February 23, 2013 that showcases each participant’s talent, oratorical skills, ease of manner and professional bearing. Last year’s conference and competition was attended by Brandon Berry, Central State University, Justin Caesar, Delaware State University, Jared Williams, Fort Valley State University, Christopher Miller, Harris-Stowe State University, Daniel Cokes, Howard University, Ernest Maclin, Jr., LeMoyne-Owen College, Carlton Smith, Morgan State University, Jordan Brunson, North Carolina A&T State University, Osadeba Omokaro, Prairie View A&M University, Christopher Castillo, Talladega College, Thomas Lavallais, Tennessee State University, Marquial McMillian, Tuskegee University, Lamar Clark, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Theophilus Woodley, Winston-Salem State University. Mr. Justin Caesar was crowned Mr. HBCU 2012-2013. Mr. Caesar will be a keynote speaker at this year’s event. The creation of the Mr. HBCU Leadership Conference and Competition is credited to Mrs. Benecia Spencer William. Mrs. Williams is the Vice President for Advancement at Lincoln University (MO). Since the event is held on the campus of Lincoln University, Mr. Lincoln University, Steven G. Robinson, Jr. will not participate in the competition as a contestant. He will however serve as host, along with Justin Caesar, Mr. HBCU, for the weeklong event. Each contestant will deliver a three-minute original speech entitled “Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the cornerstones of African American History and Culture – Black Males the catalyst for the survival of these great institutions.” In addition, each contestant will perform a three-minute talent presentation. Contestants will be critiqued on punctuality, etiquette, professionalism and presentation.
