Posted By: How May I Help You NC on April 05, 2013 Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant or associate professor of theatre beginning fall semester 2013 to teach in a strong B.A./B.F.A. program within a College of Liberal Arts, contingent on funding. Teaching responsibilities include theatre history, directing, script analysis, and introduction to theatre, in addition to advanced topical seminars. This position also serves as artistic advisor to the College of Liberal Arts diversity oriented theatre company. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in the department’s directing rotation and possibly teach courses in additional areas of specialty. MFA or PhD in Theatre, college teaching experience, and prior record of artistic/scholarly achievement required. Some professional experience beyond the academic arena desired. Ability to collaborate as a member of an artistic team essential. Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Starting date August 16, 2013. Auburn University is a comprehensive research institution, the largest in Alabama, with an enrollment of nearly 25,500 students and within easy driving distance of Atlanta, Birmingham, and Montgomery. The Department of Theatre offers a B.A. in theatre as well as B.F.A degrees in performance, design technology and stage management. The department is housed in a dedicated theatre facility including a 365-seat continental house with proscenium/thrust stage, studio theatre, design studio, fully equipped shops, smart classrooms, and computer lab.
