Posted By: How May I Help You NC on April 05, 2013 DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT – GIFT PLANNING RICE UNIVERSITY HOUSTON, TEXAS As a leading research university with a distinctive commitment to undergraduate education, Rice University has always been known for its bold aspirations. Those big dreams began a century ago when its founders announced that Rice’s educational endeavor had no upper limit. And they continue today in its historic Centennial Campaign – raising $1 billion to advance Rice's reputation and impact in its next century. Already, more than 42,000 campaign supporters and volunteers have invested in Rice, and their commitment is transforming the University across a range of endeavors. Advancements include 18 new or enhanced facilities and spaces; $96 million raised (and counting) towards the $100 million Centennial Scholarship Initiative; 23 new endowed professorships; and a student experience ranked No. 1 in the nation. Even more impressive are the students and faculty, who are seizing new opportunities for discovery, for leadership, for scientific breakthroughs and entrepreneurial rewards. As part of this precedent-setting campaign (for which over $942 million has been raised to date), Rice is strategically expanding its Resource Development team and seeks an experienced and dynamic Director of Development – Gift Planning. The Director will: play a vital role in the continued expansion and diversification of philanthropic support to the University; have primary responsibility for securing planned and/or blended gifts, i.e., a combination of annual, outright, revocable and irrevocable life income gifts; serve as a front-line fundraiser and identify and maintain a select portfolio of top gift prospects ($50,000+); spend approximately 25% of his or her time in the field cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gift donors and prospects; report to the Senior Director of Gift Planning and work in close collaboration with colleagues throughout Resource Development and other divisions to provide planned giving expertise and facilitate the design and structure of a complete array of philanthropic opportunities. Rice has retained Freeman Philanthropic Services, LLC to assist on this executive recruitment. Visit www.glfreeman.com to review the complete position profile.
