The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announces the seeding for the 2013 Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. The Morgan State men’s and women’s teams earned the top seeds in the northern division, while the Florida A&M men's team and South Carolina State women's team finished atop of the southern division. The championships are scheduled for April 19-21 at the Millbrook Tennis Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Morgan State (9-12) tallied a 4-0 unblemished mark in MEAC northern divisional play to claim its first divisional title in over five years. The Lady Bears ended the regular season on a hot streak, winning six of their last eight matches.

Rounding out the north is Howard (N2), Delaware State (N3), and Hampton (N4) respectively.

The eight-time defending South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs swept divisional play (4-0) and ended their regular season with a 13-4 record. The Lady Bulldogs will face Hampton, the number four seed in the north, on Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m.

North Carolina Central (S2) earned the second seed in the south followed by Bethune-Cookman (S3) and Florida A&M (S4).

On the men's side, Morgan State (6-9) picked up its second consecutive men's divisional title with a 4-0 conference mark.

Bethune-Cookman, who earned the number four seed in the southern division, will face the Bears on Friday beginning at Noon.

Hampton (N2), Coppin State (N3) and Howard (N4) wrap up the men's northern division.

Florida A&M earned the top seed via the conference tie-breaker and will vie for its seventh overall championship title and first since 2000 when they meet Howard on Friday beginning at Noon. The Rattlers topped the south with a 3-1 finish in MEAC play and a 10-10 overall record.

South Carolina State (S2) and Norfolk State (S3) finished second and third, by way of the tie-breaker procedures. Bethune-Cookman (S4) secured the final spot in the south.

Only the top four teams in each division compete in the championship tournament. Coppin State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T and Savannah State's women's teams were eliminated from tournament play as a result of their conference finish. Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina Central's men's teams were also eliminated.

The 2013 MEAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championship begins with women's play on Friday, April 19 at 8:30 a.m. The women's semi-final rounds start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. followed by the men at Noon. The Championship concludes on Sunday with the women's final beginning at 9 a.m. followed by the men's title match at Noon. The championship is free and open to the public.
