Celebrate the 99th Annual HU Ministers’ Conference!

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 31, 2013 What The 99th Annual Hampton University Ministers’ Conference and 79th Annual Choir Directors’ and Organists’ Guild Workshop When June 2-7, 2013 Where Hampton University, Hampton, Va. The HU Ministers’ Conference is the largest gathering of interdenominational African-American clergy in the world. This year marks the third year of Dr. Claude R. Alexander’s four-year term as conference president. Alexander is senior pastor of University Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. The Rev. Dr. Claudette A. Copeland, Executive Pastor of the New Creation Christian Fellowship Church, a thriving non-denominational and multi-faceted ministryjust outside San Antonio, Texas (Windcrest), will serve as this year’s keynote conference speaker. “As Hampton University moves forward to commemorate and celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Ministers’ Conference, we are looking forward to ending this first one hundred years by bringing to the main stage some of the most distinguished prophetic voices in the country,” said the Rev. Debra Haggins O’Bryant, HU chaplain and executive secretary to the conference. This year’s Church Development and Leadership Academy will feature 20 workshops on a plethora of topics and will held at various,on-campus locations June 4-6, from 2-5:30 p.m. (please see attachment for workshop details). Other nationally acclaimed speakers for the conference include: Dr. Carl J. Solomon, Curtis-Stewart Fellow in the D. Min Program of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH; Dr. J. Louis Felton, pastor of Mount Airy Church of God In Christ in Philadelphia, PA; Dr. Leighton Ford, president of Leighton Ford Ministries; Dr. Teresa L. Fry-Brown, associate pastor of New Bethel AME Church in Lithonia, Georgia and Bishop Kim W. Brown,senior pastor of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church The Charles H. Flax Memorial Concert will be held June 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the HU Convocation Center. The concert is free and open to the public. The HU Ministers’ Conference serves as an opportunity for leaders to come together, discuss ideas and enhance their ministry. On-site registration is located in Holland Hall.
