Posted By: How May I Help You NC on June 02, 2013 DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RIGHTS Tompkins County, Ithaca, NY. $73,362 to $79,685 per year Apply online ONLY at http://www.tompkins-co.org Tompkins County is seeking a full-time individual to manage our Human Rights Department. The Director of Human Rights reports directly to the County Administrator and is responsible for directing the services and activities offered through the County’s Human Rights Commission. The incumbent will handle all inquiries from employers, employees, landlords, tenants, individuals and organizations regarding interpretation of the Human Rights Law or other problems involving the rights of individuals. He or she will investigate complaints and allegations in an attempt to conciliate problems on a local level, and refer cases to other organizations where deemed appropriate. The incumbent is responsible for the administration and enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, affirmative action, equal opportunity and compliance programs, policies and regulations and for coordinating the functions of the Human Rights Commission and for carrying out the policies of the County Legislature. The position operates under the general direction of the County Administrator with wide latitude allowed in the administration of the overall program. Supervision is exercised over the staff of the Human Rights Commission. The incumbent will perform all related duties as required. As a public officer, in accordance with Article 3 of the New York State Public Officers law, applicants must be United States citizens (either natural born or naturalized), become a resident of Tompkins County, and maintain such residency for the duration of employment. Residency is waived for the purpose of recruitment, but once selected the candidate must become a Tompkins County resident. Click this link to view and apply for this job!
