The Project & Client Relations Manager (PCRM) plays a pivotal role in
Duke Web Services business
development, project execution and related client communications. The
PCRM serves as the outward
face of the Duke Web Services team and meets with prospective clients
to learn about their business
needs and the related web development they wish to undertake. The PCRM
then leverages that
information and his/her broader knowledge of the Duke community and
technical best practices to
develop the proposed scope, project plan and success measures for the
project the client wishes to
undertake. Once projects are underway, the PCRM serves as the point of
contact between the client,
the internal Duke Web Services team and any external contractors,
ensuring thatwork on behalf of
the client proceeds in accordance within established scope, timeline
and budget. The PCRM also
ensures that clients are effectively engaged and informed throughout
the development process.
Finally, billing and invoicing is completed and the PCRM works with the
client and the internal team
to develop service level agreements for ongoing support and maintenance
of client sites and
applications after delivery.


The person in this position reports to the operational lead of Duke Web
Services to ensure the
delivery of high quality IT services and programs to which he/she is
assigned.


DUTIES & WORK PERFORMED:
# Provide direction to collaborative cross-functional teams comprised
of Duke Web
Services and other
IT staff and/or user constituents, both internal and external to OIT
# Develop and manage
projectproposals, budgets and project plans, addressing both financial
and
human resource requirements; develop task breakdowns and project
schedules to ensure that they
are
on-time and in-scope to produce high quality results in accordance with
stated project goals
# Work to get buy-in from stakeholders on relevant projects to ensure
sustainability.
# Ensure that all groups/staff necessary are adequately represented and
involved in
assigned
projects and process.
# Ensure that progress of assigned projects meets expectations by
appropriately
reviewing status and
working with project team members and supervisors to prioritize and
resolve problems with
dependencies between projects and/or other activities.



Follow
established processes for keeping
his/her supervisor, clients, sponsors, and other project stakeholders
up-to-date on progress of
projects including project timelines, summary of project status,
highlights of significant risks,
problems, dependencies, and other appropriate information
# Provide input and possible solutions to priority/resource conflicts
# Use
group resources to
maintain an overall project calendar of events, resources and timelines
for
assigned projects
# Plan for the analysis and delivery of ongoing customer support and
maintenance needed
to move the
project and services into a sustainable production environment by
facilitating the development of
Service Level Agreements and other processes between functional groups.
# Continue to maintain
interface with constituent base to assess adequacy of service and
support
# Complete other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
NONE


EDUCATION:
BS or BA degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and
experience in technical or
management field related to web technologies is preferred. Two - four
years experience as a project
manager and/or manager in a technology-related role that involved the
management and oversight of
projects, project milestones, and/or project teams.

# The proven ability to build, maintain, and develop effective
relationships with clients and
colleagues from different backgrounds and levels of technical ability
# Personal expertise in
one or
more aspects of the web project development cycle.
# Basic familiarity with current web/mobile technologies and languages.


# Experience developing and delivering complexweb projects, with the
appropriate
attention to all
aspects of the project development life cycle.
# Experience in medium - large-scale project management
# Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow-through on tasks
in a timely manner
# Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
# Ability to translate
user/client
input into project goals, deliverables and project plans
# Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills
# Excellent time-management and organizational skills
# Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve
problems and make decisions
# Self motivation and goal-orientation
# Experiencing documenting and acting upon customer and user feedback,
for
improvement of project
outcomes and business services.




Preferred Experience and Skills:
# Experience in Higher Education in IT management, operations, or
project management
# Familiarity with digital media technologies and best practices for
their integration in the
web
environment.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment
