THE LINCOLN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT AMONG TALK MAGAZINE’S 2013 PA DISTINGUISHED COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS

THE LINCOLN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT AMONG TALK MAGAZINE’S 2013 PA DISTINGUISHED COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on June 24, 2013

The Lincoln University President Dr. Robert R. Jennings was recognized among 14 higher education leaders in Talk Magazine’s 2013 PA Distinguished College/University Presidents’ edition.

“Our choices of Distinguished Presidents are a group of innovative leaders that have solidified their stellar positions among the Pennsylvania colleges and universities by their commitment to expansion and innovation in academic programs and state-of-the art housing and educational facilities,” writes Talk Magazine Publisher Luther Sewell in the edition. “Each year, families send their young people off to college into the hands of college/university presidents, their staff and professors to educate and help prepare them for their life’s work. In addition, these educators have the tremendous responsibility of keeping them safe, as well as emphasizing character building, values, discipline and conscientious work ethics.”

Dr. Michelle R. Howard-Vital, president of fellow Historically Black College and University, Cheyney University, and neighboring West Chester University President Dr. Greg R. Weisenstein, were also recognized among Talk’s choices.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Talk Magazine among such a distinguished group of higher education leaders,” said Dr. Jennings.

“While we proudly embrace The Lincoln University’s distinction as the nation’s first degree-granting HBCU, I am committed to positioning Lincoln as one of the nation’s premier institutions for producing diverse global leaders as well.”

Jennings, the 13th president of the university, was also recently recognized by the Pennsylvania State Senate for receiving the Women’s League for Minority Education’s 2013 Educational Service Award for his visionary leadership in spearheading the establishment of an urban satellite campus of The Lincoln University in Coatesville, PA. Evening and weekend classes will begin there this Fall.

EDITOR’S NOTE: ‘THE LINCOLN UNIVERSITY’ IS NOW THE OFFICIAL NAME FOR THE INSTITUTION FORMERLY REFERRED TO AS ‘LINCOLN UNIVERSITY’ OR ‘LINCOLN UNIVERSITY OF PA’ AND SHOULD BE ADHERED TO IN ALL REFERENCES.

The Lincoln University, founded in 1854 as the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), combines the elements of a liberal arts and science-based undergraduate curriculum along with select graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly-technological and global society. Today, the University enrolls a diverse student body of approximately 2,000 men and women. Internationally recognized for preparing and producing world class leaders such as Thurgood Marshall, the first African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Lillian Fishburne, the first African American woman promoted to Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy, Langston Hughes, the noted poet, Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana and Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria.
