CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Southwestern Athletic Conference retrun specialists, Mississippi Valley State University's Julian Stafford and Prairie View A&M University's Johntá Hebert were added to the updated College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) 2013 FCS Watch List.

The CFPA, the largest awards organization in Division I college football, recently announced its watch list for the Football Championship Subdivision that includes 34 defensive backs.

The list, updated weekly by position, now includes 14 football players from the SWAC. Dray Joseph (QB - Southern), Lee Doss (WR - Southern), Ladarius Eckwood (WR - Arkansas-Pine Bluff), Isaiah Crowell (RB - Alabama State), Dezmond Beverly (TE - Alabama State), Justin Robinson (TE - Arkansas-Pine Bluff), Anthony Balancier (LB - Southern), and Robert Simpson (DL - Mississippi Valley State), Bobby Wenzig (K/P - Alabama State) and Chris Barrick (K - Prairie View A&M) were named to the CFPA Watch List for their respective positions.

Stafford (5-10 • 180 • Jr. • Memphis, Tenn.) powered the Delta Devils offense with a breakout season.

He finished in the top five in the the SWAC and MVSU in receptions (52) and receiving yards per game (73.8). He totaled 779 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 15.3 yards per catch and nearly five receptions per game.

Last season, he was an offensive threat and helped guide MVSU (5-6, 5-4 SWAC) to its best record since 2006. Stafford was named SWAC Player of the Week on two occasions receiving offensive player honors before named specialist of the week to close the season.

Hebert (5-10 • 195 • So. • Baton Rouge, La.) led the SWAC with 1, 339 all-purpose yards and was voted SWAC Freshman of the Year despite PVAMU (3-8, 3-6 SWAC) closing out the 2012 season third in the West Division.

He averaged 121.7 all-purpose yards per game finishing with 926 yards and a touchdown as a kick returner. On offenese, he registered 217 rushing yards and 196 yards receiving from 16 receptions.

All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration. The winner will be announced January 8, 2014.
