Our goal by 2020 is to educate, inspire and activate 12 million teens and young adults as part of a multigenerational force for carbon reduction and healthy communities. We are well on our way to achieving that goal, having reached 1.6 million students since 2009 through dynamic, award winning multimedia school assemblies, student action campaigns and leadership opportunities reaching well beyond campus grounds. JOB DESCRIPTION Departmental Mission: To grow network membership, inspire action and amplify the voices of ACE students, teachers and allies with the purpose of building the community needed to move the needle on climate change. Listen to, understand and authentically leverage the interests, ideas and feedback of ACE stakeholders, especially the youth we serve, to shift US culture as it relates to climate. Finally, to ensure that Media, Marketing and Mobilizations, as well as ACE’s two other key programmatic areas: Multimedia Education and Leadership Development, are well aligned and effectively advancing ACE’s vision, mission and brand promise. Position Overview: As Director of Media, Marketing and Mobilization, you will be responsible for attracting, activating and amplifying the voices of young people, teachers, and other ACE stakeholders. This position is new for ACE and includes working in partnership with allies across the education, youth development and environmental fields, designing the strategy and tactics, and then implementing all aspects of our media, marketing and mobilization program. You’ll also bring a track record of starting or running big, bold things – things that prove you've got the entrepreneurial spirit to help take ACE and its network to the next level. In short, you will make taking action on climate irresistible to today’s youth. We have identified three critical skill-sets necessary to excel in this role – roughly grouped into communications, technology and organizing. Strong candidates will be skilled in all three areas. We also encourage candidates to apply who don't have deep expertise in all three areas, but have exceptional skills in one or two areas, and the hunger and aptitude to learn the other areas quickly. Major Functions: *Executive management of Media, Marketing and Mobilization department Leadership on brand, marketing and communications strategy *Strategic and operational oversight of campaigns, actions and community/national partnerships, including effective use of media, technology and CRM infrastructure *Storytelling and action program development within integrated program model *Organizational development and culture shift to support an irresistible audience experience with ACE and our community that can make change happen at scale Working Relationships: Internal – Work closely with the executive team, the executive director and staff implementing media, marketing and mobilization responsibilities. Must work collaboratively across the organization to connect field staff, ACE students and teachers to opportunities for influence and action External – Work with the media, government officials, corporations, thought leaders, partners, funders and relevant consultants as well contact with teens and teachers Work Environment: This position is located in the headquarters of the organization, based in Oakland, CA. May require travel for meetings, events and trainings throughout the United States Direct reports, indirect reports and staff may be based elsewhere – you should be a strong communicator both in person as well as via conference calls, video chat, IM and email There is a strong focus on collaboration, but you should be able to work independently day-to-day We strive for a nimble, low-ego and high-performance team and you should be comfortable with making the most of change, testing, iteration and deadlines Click this link to view and apply for this job!
