JSU welcomes Dean Wu from Nantong University in China

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 05, 2013 by Jackson State University August 2, 2013 Jackson State University warmly welcomes Dr. Wenquan Wu, dean of College of Foreign Studies at Nantong University (NTU), a MOU institution in China. Dr. Wu has long been professionally and academically attached to JSU. His initial visit to Jackson State dated back to 2005 when he worked as a post doctoral fellow in the College of Education and Human Development. Upon returning to his home institution, he was promoted to the rank of full professor and later appointed dean of NTU’s College of Foreign Studies. As a reputed scholar of British literature and Shakespearean studies, Wu is the author of several books and miscellaneous research articles. For the past few years, Wu has worked tirelessly and relentlessly to promote the collaborative relations and strengthen the academic links between JSU and Nantong University. Currently, JSU is hosting at least eight students from Nantong University who are working full-time to pursue their graduate degrees in the College of Education, College of Business and College of Science, Engineering and Technology. The College of Liberal Arts has been continuously sponsoring the China Summer Training projects and hosting both faculty and students from NTU and other MOU institutions. Most recently Dr. Thomas Calhoun, associate vice president for Academic Affairs, led a delegation of both administrators and faculty and visited Nantong University and three other MOU institutions in China. The delegation was warmly received by Dean Wu and NTU’s vice president for Academic Affairs. The visit was concluded with the signing of MOUs in the areas of student and faculty exchanges, research collaborations, 2+2, 3+2 joint degree programs and other items of mutual interest. During his stay at JSU, Wu will hold a series of seminars in the areas of British literature and Shakespeare. He will also interact with faculty members in the Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages. The seminars are open to both JSU faculty and students.
