Northern Kentucky University Job Opening: Outreach Specialist

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 12, 2013 Northern Kentucky University’s (NKU) Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) seeks a person for the position of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Outreach Specialist (OS). This OS will model best practices in teaching for both in-service and pre-service teachers in Northern Kentucky elementary and middle school classrooms. He/she will also develop and deliver professional development to area teachers in improving STEM teaching and learning in their classrooms and schools. The employee will work with university and school faculty to develop new lessons, programs and materials for disseminating best practices in STEM education. The OS will also be expected to teach one 3-credit undergraduate level course. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure track, temporary faculty position. Candidates should possess an appropriate Master’s degree and should have at least 5 years of science teaching experience at the elementary or middle grades levels. Possession of the Rank I or National Board Certification is a plus. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a record of offering effective STEM professional development to teachers at the desired levels, and should have experience working with pre-service teachers.
