Harvard University Job Opening: Research Computing Associate, Virtualization Platforms

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 12, 2013 Reporting to the Team Lead for Special Projects, the successful candidate will develop and provide support for existing and future virtualization environments for Research Computing and associated support 1000's of virtual systems including networked and SAN storage. The successful candidate will also be intimately involved in managing hosted guest systems, services, and working directly with end users and content owners for both physical and virtualized research computing systems. Responsibilities include: provisioning virtual resources in response to user requests and needs; growing the hosting infrastructure to anticipate and accommodate demand cycles; servicing user support requests and guiding users to and/or providing resources; and monitoring key infrastructure and responding to problems with technical analysis and problem resolution. Working well with others as part of the Research Computing team in direct operational support of high performance cluster computing systems containing multiple petabytes of storage, custom workstations attached to instrumentation, and other research oriented IT services is critical for this position.
