Posted By: How May I Help You NC on September 24, 2013 A Better Chance now seeks an experienced, energetic, and tenacious Director of Development who will actively expand, strengthen, and engage the organization’s constituency, continue the momentum of its comprehensive campaign, build lasting relationships with key donors, and manage the bicoastal development office. He or she will be responsible for planning, directing and implementing a diverse fundraising program, which includes a major gifts program, special events fundraising, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail/e-marketing, workplace giving and planned giving. The position also includes oversight of key marketing activities, volunteer recruitment and engagement, and alumni relations programming. A Better Chance is now at a pivotal times in its fifty-year history: a new strategic plan is being implemented with objectives to increase the number of youth served by 75% and significantly grow the endowment, among other goals. As a member of the senior leadership team and chief development officer, the Director of Development will play a vital role in the success of these initiatives. It is imperative that he or she provides innovative ideas, visionary leadership, and serves as a model communicator. The ideal candidate must possess an ability to multi-task and switch gears as needed in a fast-paced and nimble operation, and demonstrates impeccable organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also be proactive, personable, resourceful and creative in order to achieve the department’s and organization’s goals. Major responsibilities include significantly growing the size and scope of the Dreambuilders (major gifts) membership nationally, taking primary ownership of the annual gala, expanding foundation and corporation support, producing external communications for donors, prospects, and alumni, strengthening the alumni network, and consistently and accurately reporting to the Board of Directors.
