Bowie State University Homecoming Welcomes Alumni, Friends

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 02, 2013 Bowie State University invites alumni and the community to celebrate the 2013 homecoming week from Oct. 7-13, capped by the BSU Bulldogs football game against Chowan University at Bulldog Stadium Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. Alumni and friends will reconnect at homecoming events that include concerts, a comedy show, student talent competition and student fashion show, reflecting the theme, “Unleash the Untamed Bulldog.” Saturday’s events kick off at 9 a.m. with a community parade that will feature area high school bands and BSU student groups, including the Symphony of Soul marching band and Golden Girls cheerleaders. The parade route will run from Ruby Tuesday’s at 16451 Excalibur Road in Bowie to the Macy’s store at Bowie Town Center. Tailgating starts at 11 a.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Premium tailgating plots can be reserved in advance for $15 each. Homecoming game tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for BSU faculty, non-BSU students with valid school ID, and senior citizens (over 65). BSU students with valid ID are free. Other Homecoming events include: • “Bowie’s Got Talent” Competition Monday, Oct. 7, 8-11 p.m. Myers Auditorium, Martin Luther King Jr. Communication Arts Center, Bowie State University Cost: Free with Ticket • Yard Fest Concert Wednesday, Oct. 9, 3-6 p.m. Student Center Promenade, Bowie State University Enjoy performances by the band, Marlee in the Mixx, and other BSU student and alumni artists at an outdoor concert, sponsored by Verizon. Cost: Free - more - • Alumni Dinner Cruise Aboard the Elite Yacht Wednesday, Oct. 9, 8-11 p.m. National Harbor, 165 Waterfront St., Fort Washington, Md. Cost: $65, BSUNAA members, $75 general admission • Student Fashion Show Wednesday, Oct. 9, 7-10 p.m. AC Jordan Arena, Leonidas S. James Educational Complex, Bowie State University Check out the latest fashion trends and new looks for the millennium, featuring former BET Host, Free, as the MC. Cost: $10 BSU students, $15 general admission • Comedy Show Thursday, Oct. 10, 7-10 p.m. AC Jordan Arena, Leonidas S.
