Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on December 18, 2013 Coach Rick Comegy, who led Jackson State to an 8-1 record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference this season, was fired Wednesday, the school said. Comegy had a 55-35 record in eight seasons and led the Tigers to the 2007 SWAC title. Jackson State was 8-4 overall this season. The Tigers lost to Southern in the SWAC championship game, 34-27, in double overtime. Athletic director Vivian L. Fuller said in a statement that the school is "grateful to Coach Comegy and his staff for their service to Jackson State. We appreciate the work he has done with JSU athletics and we wish him well." The school scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon to address the decision. If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
