SHAW THE MOTHER INSTITUTION

Posted By: marcus s. on November 30, 2005

WHY IS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE TALK DOWN ON SHAW UNIVERSITY??? SHAW IS A MOTHER INSTITUTION THAT PRODUCED SOME OF THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN DOCTORS. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS THE FIRST HBCU WITH A MEDICAL SCHOOL. MOREOVER, SHAW HOUSED NORTH CAROLINA A&T BEFORE IT HAD A CAMPUS AND WAS THE EDUCATOR OF THE FOUNDER OF NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY. MANY PEOPLE FORGET THAT SHAW WAS THE FIRST BLACK UNIVERSITY IN THE SOUTH AND THE SECOND IN THE WORLD. SHAW IS NOT A STATE FUNDED INSTITUTION BUT STILL HAS SIGNIFICANT RESOURCES AND IS THE MOTHER OF SO MANY OTHER COLLEGES. HAVING SAID THAT!!! ALL YOU OTHER HBCU’S……….BOW DOWN AND GIVE RESPECT TO YOUR MAMA!!!!!!!!

I do love my alama-mater but not at the expense of putting down any other HBCU. I respect Your University and give credit where due. No single HBCU can aide and assist all minority students in the world. All black colleges are needed desperately and we all are still brothers and sisters regardless of where we attend and we do need to stick together and respect one another. Division is one of our greatest enemies and the enemies greatest resource.
I commend You for Your boldness, courage and dedication Bro. Also Your sincerety and obvious loyalty to Your University.
You prove to be an asset to Your Colloge and I know You will do much more.
Peace Bro and keep up the great work.
Sincerely
William

Yes this is true, if we did not have HBCU's, would we have an opportunity to go to college, The problem is that some HBCU's discourage students who become alumni to donate money back to their alma mater. If I had the chance to aqcuire a substantial income, a portion would go to my school. We need to invest money in our schools so that we will not be left behind academically, culturally, and socially.
