“Virtual Mentoring Program” Offers Unique Online Opportunity for African Americans

COLUMBUS, OHIO (January 24, 2005) – The search for mentors and positive role models for young African Americans just got easier. In recognition of National Mentoring month, iZania LLC announced the launch this week of an online mentoring program at www.izania.com.

“It is important for the development of young business professionals and entrepreneurs to interact, communicate and learn from those with similar backgrounds and experiences, but it can be difficult for African Americans to find role models,” said Roger Madison, CEO of iZania LLC. “The role models and expert guidance we need aren’t always next door, or around the block, or even in the same city. The Internet makes new realities possible.”

Through this program, participants develop Mentor Profiles and Protégé Profiles, and then selection is facilitated by iZania through an online search. Communications take place using Private Messaging, Private Chat Rooms, and email.

When a “match” is established, the mentor and protégé are encouraged to use the G.R.O.W. Model, a 4-step approach to setting and reaching goals, as a guide to building a lifelong relationship and friendship that is mutually beneficial. “In the information age it takes a virtual village to raise a child; the possibilities are as vast as our membership that covers more than 40 states and 7 countries around the world,” Anthony Redic, VP of Business Development said.

Among the requests for help from iZania members is a salesman in California, a writer in Florida, a financial planner in Tennessee, and an entrepreneur in Ohio. All of these people need mentors and experienced guidance to succeed. This new program offers possibilities within and beyond the Virtual Black Community.

iZania LLC (www.iZania.com) is a Columbus, Ohio-based company, formed to connect Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and consumers online. iZania’s goal is to create the world’s most extensive “Virtual Black Community,” accelerate the growth of e-commerce, and help the descendants of Africa to act in our self-interests.
