Congratulations to Coach Stephen Joyner, Sr. on being inducted into the CIAA Hall of Fame!
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 28, 2014

The sport of basketball, like life, has highs and lows. Each year brings new challenges, new players to the court and the creative insecurity of not knowing exactly how the season will end. For the past 26 years, Stephen Joyner Sr. has been a constant inspiration while guiding and molding generations of students and coaches. They arrive with high hopes and, under his leadership, leave with a passion for learning, greater athletic ability, increased confidence and a higher appreciation for the value of teamwork.

His legacy as a JCSU basketball player and his legend as a coach have earned him the distinction of being inducted into the CIAA John B. McLendon Jr. Hall of Fame.

This is a well-deserved recognition for a man who knows how to teach the game, coaches with passion and creates winners both on and off the basketball court. For those who are keeping a tally, Coach Joyner has the most wins of any active coach in the CIAA and is ranked in the top ten for career coaching victories in the conference.

He has lived and breathed basketball most of his life, arriving at JCSU in 1969 as a star point guard for the Golden Bulls. Since he began coaching here in1980, Coach Joyner has steadily transformed our basketball program into one of the CIAA's most competitive teams. He continues to dream big, inspiring young men and women to achieve at their growing edge, on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
