You love that moment when the intellectual struggle pays off and something just seems to click. And certainly, that moment gives you satisfaction as a professional educator. Maybe that's why you became a teacher in the first place. But there's more. You know that all students can learn at high levels regardless of what some others might say. You know that the kid others have given up on has it in him to change the world. You know that the key to making that happen is to ensure his learning and not to let him settle for less. You're not going to let old excuses stop you; the work is just too important. If this kid doesn't get what he needs to be successful in the next few years, much will be lost. The Tamalpais Union High School District lies just north of San Francisco, California. It's a high-achieving district: We do well on tests and most of our students go to college right after high school. But appearances can be deceiving ... a substantial number of our students are not mastering the learning that they will need to be successful adults and the problem has been persistent. That's why we need more teachers like you. The Tam District is now accepting applications for a variety of high school teaching and leadership positions for the 2014-2015 school year and we would very much like to see your name on our list of candidates.
