My Sister's Keeper: Logo Design Challenge to Win $500

My Sister
Posted By: Lauren-Jei McCarthy on May 01, 2014

The Black Women's Health Imperative is launching My Sister’s Keeper (MSK), a sexual health and reproductive justice (RJ) initiative on HBCU campuses this August. MSK will support a strong, connected and engaged network of young Black women who will advocate on behalf of reproductive health and reproductive justice policy matters on their campuses and in their communities!

But, our initiative needs a logo! We're issuing a challenge for the chance to win $500 and have your design serve as the official MSK logo*.

We’re inviting students attending HBCUs to help us design our MSK campaign logo. The logo design should be fresh, creative and visually illustrate:

Sisterhood or the idea of the phrase I am my sister's keeper
Sexual Health and Reproductive Justice as a component to overall health and wellness of Black women
The full name or acronym of the campaign (My Sister's Keeper or MSK)

Full Logo Requirements:
Professional: This logo will be featured on our website, our social media platforms and other mediums (stationary, pamphlets, t-shirts etc.). As a result, while we want the logo to be eye-catching, it must still be legible.
Theme: As stated above, the logo must represent the concepts and ideas of sisterhood as well as sexual and reproductive justice as a component to overall health and wellness.

It should also include the full name or acronym of the initiative. The design should be universal in theme.
Color: There are no limitations and any colors may be used. However, logo must look good in color (if any) or black and white.
Integrity: Logos cannot contain copyrighted material. Logos must have been created and edited by the contestant(s). Logos may not include images or licensed images that have been previously published. Must be easily reproducible and scalable for large and small formatting.

*Contest Details
Winners will be selected by the Black Women's Health Imperative Staff. Contestants agree that Black Women's Health Imperative may publish their logo and name(s) and may use both for advertising campaigns and/or marketing materials in the future. Contestants assign all ownership rights, including all intellectual property rights to the logo, to the Black Women's Health Imperative. Additionally, Black Women's Health Imperative may alter, modify or revise the logo as it sees necessary to achieve the goals of the organization. Black Women's Health Imperative reserves the right to not select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.

The contest ends at midnight on Friday, May 30. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.
