Home Depot gives $10K to Jarvis Christan College

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 23, 2014 Jarvis Christian College was awarded $10,000 from the Home Depot “Retool Your School” HBCU Campus Improvement Program. Retool Your School is a grant program geared specifically toward historically black colleges and universities, according to a news release from Jarvis. The funding will be used for the Jarvis Observatory Garden, a public sustainable community garden and farmers’ market, energy efficient observatory platform with a lecture-style learning lounge and nature preserve on the land that follows the Goodwin Nature Trails throughout the campus, Gwendolyn Winters, director of sponsored programs, said. This is the fifth year for the promotion and the second year that Jarvis has been a recipient of a grant. The college was one of 13 winners in the tier II category.
