Former Tennessee State guard Patrick Miller has signed a professional basketball contract overseas.

Miller has signed with Besiktas Integral Forex Team in Turkey, and will be a teammate of ex-Southeast Missouri forward Tyler Stone.

“Signing a deal to play professional basketball is a dream come true. I know it will take some adjustment, everyone is a good player, but I plan to work hard and work my way up,” Miller said.

This past season at TSU, Miller led the OVC in scoring, averaging 23.7 points per game and 26.1 in OVC contests; that ranked him fourth nationally while he also ranked sixth in the nation in minutes played at 37:44 per game.

“Tennessee State prepared me for this moment. It taught me how to be mentally strong, always stay humble and be hungry. It made into the person I am today,” Miller said.

Miller had worked out with four organizations in the National Basketball Association, before striking a deal with the club in Istanbul.

“The NBA teams pay for everything. They call you in, you work out, and then they evaluate your game,” Miller said. “They try to get a better understanding of you and even give you psychological tests.”

After a couple of weeks in his hometown, the Chicago native will return to Nashville to train before boarding a plane for Europe.

“Everyone that I have talked to that has been to Turkey has loved it. They have said that that is their favorite place to visit in Europe and that the people who live there are friendly… I am really excited.”
