Tom Shepard Wishes JWT Success in Building on 150 Years of Business

And according to Tom Shepard, former publisher of the influential LOOK Magazine and well-known salesman of his generation, the same cardinal rule endures: “Nothing happens in business unless something is sold.” We spoke with Tom Shepard, who worked his way up through the ranks of the U.S. Navy, eventually working with major companies such as GE and Coca-Cola during his tenure as publisher of LOOK. Having also served as President of the Institute for Outdoor Advertising during his time, he noted: “Making the sale affected my personal life in almost every single way you can think of it.” Tom will be 96 next month, and his book Making the Sale: The Art of Salesmanship chronicles his advertising career with hopes that a younger generation can learn from his greatest life lessons. “If you don’t say it importantly, many people may pay no attention to it at all.” - See more at: http://www.jwt.com/blog/people/tom-shepard...
