Metta World Peace on "Larry King Now" My Future Plans
|
Posted By: Hija Chang on July 31, 2014 Metta World Peace sat down with Larry King on the Emmy nominated “Larry King Now” show this week to set the record straight on his future in the NBA, playing for the Knicks and answered social media questions from his biggest fans. KING: You played New York last year. You didn’t have a good time with the Knicks, did you? PEACE: Well, I had a great time being in front of my New York fans, but I didn’t play a lot. So you know, as a competitive player—and we didn’t make the playoffs. So at that time, I was just like—I was miserable with the fact that I wasn’t playing. We were losing games and it just wasn’t ideal for me. KING: When you’re not playing, did you talk to Mike Woodson? Do you say, “Why are you not—” What do you do as a player when they’re not putting you in? PEACE: I just accept it. Like if I’m not playing, I don’t like to question my coach. So obviously I want to play, and I try to do what I can do in practice. I push my teammates. But I don’t go to my coach and say, “Hey, I want to play more.” KING: Do you ever wonder why you didn’t play? PEACE: I did. I had a lot of reasons and I think there were some reasons why I didn’t play, but at the same time I just didn’t want to get in the way of a coach. I believe in letting a coach coach.
