The G. Chris and SungEun Andersen Residence Hall provides convenient, safe, and comfortable housing for 400 undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to double and single rooms, Andersen offers 58 practice rooms, laundry facilities, a fitness room, and a student lounge. Andersen is supported by 24-hour security and an active Residence Life staff. Domains Residence Life Responsibilities Resident Support and Community Development • Maintain a high level of visibility with student residents and develop and implement integrated communication vehicles • Engage residents in the mission, vision and values of the Office of Student Life by creating residence hall programs and encouraging participation in these activities, hall governance and student life • Serve as the primary staff member for "on-call" emergencies • Manage internal and external safety resources to ensure the welfare and well-being of residents. Execute the Emergency Management Plan • Provide leadership during crises in the residence hall and collaborate with other offices in the greater campus community as needed • Create and promote an environment which supports student growth and development • Clearly communicate, interpret and enforce Residence Life and School policies • Advise and refer students to appropriate offices and resources concerning personal, artistic and academic concerns • Work with counselors and nurse in the Health Center to assist students as needed • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the residence hall Staff Supervision • Supervise Resident Assistant Staff (15 students) • Coordinate weekly staff meetings to provide relevant information and clear communication • Conduct regular one-on-one supervisory meetings with staff members • Oversee educational, cultural and social programming performed by Resident Assistants • Manage budget and quality record keeping of all expenses for programming and staffing in the residence hall Facilities Management • Coordinate with the Facilities Department all maintenance, repair, security and safety related concerns • Facilitate housing selection and assignments for new and returning students and summer programs • Implement all facility related rules and regulations for the effective operation of the hall • Manage key and mail distribution • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the cleaning, maintenance and security staff • Work with Resident Hall Maintenance Manager to coordinate inventories, maintenance and damage of all rooms • Maintain a working relationship with tenants of Manhattan School of Music Student Life Responsibilities • Support the Office of Student Life in its mission to support student growth and development • Assist the staff in planning, creating and implementing procedures, policies, programming and other services for students • Attend routine Office of Student Life staff meetings • Advise student organizations and Residence Community Council • Assist with large campus events • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Life • Conduct judicial hearings in coordination with Director of Student Life and the Dean of Students • Plan and conduct all training, recruitment, selection, and evaluation of student leadership positions for Office of Student Life with the Director of Student Life and the Dean of Students Click this link to view and apply for this job!
