Two childhood friends and one pro baller launch app that sends your pics into the future

picFuture lets you surprise people with pics…like a present

Ryan Taylor and Kofi Onumah have been friends since 1991. They met in elementary school
and attended middle school and high school together in Minneapolis before graduating in ’98
and going their own way for college. They reunited by chance in 2011 when Kofi, now a
pharmacist who graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana and Ryan a business consultant found they were working for the same Twin Cities company. They talked about partnering on a pharmacy app but could never get any traction and the budding partnership ended when Kofi moved to Washington DC in late 2011. Then in early 2014 Ryan called out of the blue with another idea, this time for a pic app that let you surprise people with pics. “It had nothing to do with pharmacy and it was crazy, but I liked the vision!” says Kofi. Ryan got the idea for picFuture whilst watching the HBO hit True Detective.

Kam Taylor, took the same path through elementary, middle and high school as his older bro
Ryan and Kofi, and after an All Big Ten hoops career at Wisconsin and six years as a pro in
Europe he was closer to his NBA dream than ever before. Fresh off of pre-season playing with Boston Celtics, he was in his fifth game with the Celtics’ minor league team when he tore his ACL in December. “It was a definitely a wakeup call for me” says Kam who also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves summer league team in 2012.

At 29, and facing nine months of rehab he knew he needed to start thinking about life after basketball and picFuture offered that opportunity. “My brother’s been saying for ten years that my charisma and personality are a perfect compliment to his quiet nature and I thought the idea was a winner so I joined the team.”

The team worked through the winter, spring and summer to tweak, test and refine the concept and finally soft-launched on July 28th, which saw 250 family and friends download the app from the Apple App Store in a little over a week. “We’re excited about the feedback that we’re getting and are full steam ahead with our college marketing plan” says Kofi. A plan that will see Kam introduce picFuture to the Wisconsin Campus where he also continues to rehab, while Kofi leads a DC rollout including Georgetown, George Washington and Howard. Ryan will continue to focus on strategy, fundraising and product development.

About the app:
picFuture lets you send pics into the future. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3.
1. Take a pic and add a short tease
2. Select a friend, the future date they can see it and send it…into the future.
3. Friend can view the tease today but can’t see pic until the future arrives. They spend days
intrigued, guessing and wondering what you sent this time.

How is picFuture different from other photo-based apps?
1. Surprise – it plays on everyone’s desire to be surprised
2. 1 to 1 – with pF you’re sending pics to a person not posting to empty followers
3. Friend’s friends – Your profile reflects pics you’ve received so viewers get a glimpse of what your life is like from your friend’s PoV.

picFuture is available for free in the Apple App Store at the following link. http://picfuture.com/iphone
