Not feeling all that festive!!!!

Posted By: Daniel Parker on December 16, 2005 Well the holidays are here once again and usually im super geeked! But im not and for some reason i really dont care. I asked my son what Christmas was all about and he said i ge alot of toys. I wanted to throw him because he knows better! I went to walmart to money gram a payment(i owed a debt to a credit card/bank and i wanted to pay it off)and do some holiday toy shopping. I saw people sweating, arguing, maxing out their cards and etc. Is this what we have trumped up christmas to be? I made a promise to myself no excess spending until im completely out of debt. Blacks can barely get shyt wit good credit and here we are, my people; that i seen in the store getting ready to throw ourselves into deeper debt and financial woe just to but a few extra presents!!!! When did we become so damn shallow? I admit i spent a little but only 117 dolars and that was more than enough to but over 13 gifts!!!! It was people trying to kill themselves to buy the new xbox for a 10 year old! A freakin' snot nosed, short smart mouth brat! Ok If ya got it like that then do it big. But if ya already maxed out 2 cards, half assed paid ya bills and dont know how youre going to pay the rent next month, stop and walk out the store!!! Its seems that christmas is so commercial to me know, maybe cause im older and im on the other end now givin' most of the presents and not getting. For Christmas im going to get my son back for that smart ass remark. Bright and early on Christmas morn we going to church and we stayin the whole damn day!!!! I mean sunday school. Prayer hour of power, Mornin' service, lunch, we going to the visiting church before evening service, evening service, and night service!!!! Im making him sit on the first row wit me!!!! We clappin', stomping and raising holy heaven in the pew!!!!!! And he betta sing like Christ himself was beforre him!!!!!! Bout time he make it home he aint gonna want to lift his arm to touch a gift da little rotten imp!!!!! I feel better already. Thanks peoples. I feel you man. I'm not really in the mood either. It shouldn't be about the gifts anyway. It should be about family time and celebrating the birth of Jesus. I don't get the presents anymore...I don't care. As long as I'm livin...I'm straight...

what your saying is true...its not about what u get but the people u spend that day with and the people u celebrating the brith of JESUS with. See i feel its because of the the way a child is rise...not knowing what this day is all about....and i fear that some kids well will never know how to truely love JESUS on his day...guess thats just how the world is today...well i say im PROUD to see a father like yourslef teaching your son what it truely mean plese keep up the good work... ~sweetNess~ Friday, December 16th 2005 at 4:46PM |

You know what is crazy to me, where I live there are churches actually going to be closed on Sunday. That is sooo crazy to me, you would think that of all the places that would be open you'd think that the churches would. I'm not going to lie and say I don't get into the commercialized version of Christmas, because I do, I love presents, but I understand the birth AND resurrection of Jesus Christ, and how he came and died that I might have not only life but life eternally and more abundantly.
