Posted By: Hija Chang on September 19, 2014 The gong, waterfall music and 20 minutes of silence Monifa Love Asante uses to begin some of her classes at Bowie State University may seem unconventional, but the English professor says the ancient practice of meditation may be the key to unlocking creativity and releasing the stress of college students. Love Asante, a Glenarden resident and coordinator of the creative writing program at BSU, has been conducting research on meditation in the classroom for the past two years and using her composition students as the willing guinea pigs.
