Bowie State Homecoming Week Celebrates Bulldog Pride

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 10, 2014 Bowie State Alumni, Community Welcome to Attend Spirit, Entertainment Events Oct. 12-19 Bowie State University welcomes alumni and the community to celebrate homecoming from Oct. 12-19 at school pride and entertainment events, capped by the BSU Bulldogs football game against the Virginia State University Trojans Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Reflecting the theme of “Evolution,” the activities include a concert, dinner cruise, student talent competition, and scholarship gala, providing opportunities for alumni and friends to relive college memories and make new ones. Saturday’s events start at 10 a.m. with the annual Legacy Parade that invites the community to enjoy local high school and community bands, the BSU Symphony of Soul marching band and Golden Girls cheerleaders. The parade route will run from Ruby Tuesday’s at 16451 Excalibur Road in Bowie to the Macy’s store at Bowie Town Center. Tailgating starts at 11 a.m. Parking for premium tailgating spots is $20. Graduates of the last decade, or GOLD, can receive free admission to a special tailgating event on the lawn adjacent to Holmes Quad when they register online in advance. Admission is $5 on Saturday. Homecoming game tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for senior citizens (over 65) and non-BSU students with valid school ID. BSU students with valid ID can enter for free. Other homecoming events include: * "Bowie’s Got Talent” Competition Monday, Oct. 13, 8-11 p.m. Myers Auditorium, Martin Luther King Jr. Communication Arts Center, Bowie State University Cost: Free with Ticket for BSU Students/General $5 * Bulldog Nation Alumni Dinner Cruise Thursday, Oct. 16, 7-11 p.m. National Harbor, 165 Waterfront Street, Fort Washington, MD 20745 Cost: $65 * 150-Degree Concert Thursday, Oct. 16, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. A.C. Jordan Arena, Leonidas S. James Educational Complex, Bowie State University Bowie State hosts a can’t-miss homecoming concert, featuring hip-hop and R&B artists Yo Gotti, August Alsina, and Lil’ Boosie.
