Addie Whisenant speaks to students at Lincoln University

Posted By: Hija Chang on October 15, 2014 FEATURED Content Addie Whisenant, director of African-American Media in the White House Office of Communications, spoke at The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, the first degree-granting historically black university, on Monday night. Originally having dreams of becoming a broadcast journalist, she later found an interest in public relations through an internship with NPR in D.C. But through her passion for politics, constant networking throughout the area and advice from her mentor at NPR, Michel Martin, she landed the job in the White House. “You’re going to need that helping hand of someone outside of college to help you to get to wherever it is that you are going,” Whisenant said.
