Walsh announces Boston’s first-ever chief diversity officer

Posted By: Hija Chang on December 02, 2014 Shaun Blugh, director of due diligence for New York-based, minority owned employment scouts IMB Development Corp., will serve as Boston’s first-ever chief diversity officer, Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced this morning. Walsh’s creation of his Mayor’s Office of Diversity precedes this morning’s release of a report in partnership with the Greater Boston Latino Network addressing the need for Latino presence in decision-making positions at the municipal level. The Mayor’s Office of Diversity will lead Walsh’s diversity agenda, including the ongoing development and delivery of the city’s diversity goals and objectives in areas of hiring, leadership and career development, diversity training, strategic planning, recruitment and retention. The office will also be tasked with analyzing and improving procurement strategies, and supporting and increasing opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses to engage directly with the city.
