Hawaiian Electric Industries to be acquired by Florida's NextEra Energy in $4.3B deal

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on December 05, 2014 Hawaiian Electric Industries will be acquired by Florida-based NextEra Energy Inc., one of North America's top producers of wind and solar energy, in a deal valued at about $4.3 billion, the two companies said Wednesday. The total value to HEI shareholders is estimated to be $3.5 billion or about $33.50 per HEI share. On Wednesday, HEI's stock closed at $28.19 per share. Additionally, HEI shareholders get 0.2413 shares of NextEra Energy for each share they own valued at $25 per HEI share, a one-time dividend of 50 cents a share and an estimated $8 per share for the American Savings Bank spinoff, which is tax-free.
