Summary Description: This position is responsible for providing superlative editing, proofreading, and writing support across the organization for all program and project areas, ensuring error-free, clear, accessible documents that adhere to APA and house style. Works closely with communications and administrative staff. Must be experienced and skilled at coordinating multiple projects with different internal stakeholders while maintaining calm and focus. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure correctness of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage in all NCCD documents. Ensure consistency between sections of a document and between similar types of documents within the organization. Ensure accuracy of layout, design, and text consistent with project specifications and organizational standards. Preserve NCCD branding and voice. Collaborate with authors of documents to pinpoint and resolve editing issues in documents in a productive and respectful manner. Accurately interpret editing instructions. Make revisions or adjustments to design problems in text of documents. Support multiple projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously. Work seamlessly as part of a multi-person process to format, edit, and finalize documents in a timely fashion. Anticipate and resolve potential challenges and questions that arise in the course of coordinating multiple schedules and project logistics. Level of Authority: Works primarily independently of ongoing supervision. Keeps supervisor and administrative coordinator fully advised of progress and issues that may arise. Coordinates with administrative coordinator and other editors to facilitate workflow for all documents in queue. Ensures accurate charges are recorded for all project-related services. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Knowledge/Skill Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in English or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years’ experience in writing and editing reports/papers required; layout and design experience beneficial. Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills required. Work schedule: Full-time position, at 40 hours per week. Preference will be given to a strong and qualified candidate who can work a shift that begins in the late morning and ends in the late afternoon or early evening.
